Sheet metal nesting

Nesting arranges parts on a sheet while considering geometry, margins and spacing.

Results depend on shapes, quantities, sheet boundaries, spacing, orientation and process rules. A visually plausible layout does not replace independent collision and process validation.

LamiNest Cut status

The current nesting MVP is limited and based on bounding envelopes. The experimental True-Shape solver and validator are partly implemented. Nesting parts inside holes is also limited. Target-level optimization has not been achieved, so results are not presented as production-validated.

What to define

Before arranging parts, define sheet size and boundaries, margins, spacing, quantities and allowed rotations. Cutting also depends on kerf, part stability and operation order; those are CAM concerns.
