How to prepare a DXF for cutting

The goal is to provide unambiguous geometry at the agreed scale and in the agreed units.

Units and scale

Check the model units and compare a known dimension with its expected value. Do not rely only on a file name or export settings. A scale error affects nesting, kerf and the cutting result.

Contours and layers

Check that cutting profiles are closed and free of duplicates, overlapping segments and accidental gaps. Identify which layers hold production geometry and which contain dimensions or annotation.

Exchange limits

Different programs store entities and metadata differently. Confirm the required DXF variant and inspect the file in the target CAM system. LamiNest Cut supports selected entities within a limited scope; see the DXF workflow page.
