Kerf compensation

Kerf is the material removed during cutting. The toolpath must account for its width when the finished dimensions need to match the design.

Side of the material

A path along the nominal edge can make a part smaller or larger by part of the kerf width. Compensation offsets the path to the correct side of the contour. Direction depends on whether the profile is external or internal.

Source of the value

Cut width depends on process and material. Use verified data for the specific setup and account for tolerances. Do not assume one universal value.

Validation

Check offset direction, corners, lead-ins and small features. Kerf compensation in LamiNest Cut is described as a limited implementation, not a fully validated production feature.
