From geometry to a CAM toolpath
CAM preparation connects a part model with process parameters and machine rules.
Inputs
You need unambiguous contours, material, thickness, a source for process parameters and equipment constraints. Missing data should not be guessed.
Operation plan
The system or operator defines compensation, lead-ins and lead-outs, pierce points, contour order and any tabs. Strategies such as Fly Cutting depend on process conditions and need separate validation.
Validation and output
Before production, review collisions, sequence, parameter compatibility and controller format. A geometry preview does not replace simulation or a machine test. Simulation and postprocessor availability depends on the product.
